Chocolate Malt Waffles

Chocolate, sourdough, whole wheat waffles!

Step 1

To make the starter, mix the water, sourdough starter, and whole wheat flower in a medium bowl. Cover and set aside overnight.

Step 2

In the morning, in a large bowl, whisk the cocoa, milk powder, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.

Step 3

Pour the sourdough starter mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir in the eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and chocolate chips.

Step 4

Heat the waffle iron, and cook the waffles. You'll have to test them, it will be hard to see when they are browned because of all the chocolate. :) Eat immediately, covered with whipped cream and fruit.
