Chocolate Chip Sourdough Scones

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Small bowl

Method
 

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder with a whisk in the medium bowl. Cut the butter into small squares, then add to the flour mixture and cut into smaller pieces with a pastry cutter. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  2. In small bowl, mix the sourdough, egg, vanilla extract, and sour cream. Use a fork to stir the mixture into the other bowl, not too much mixing, it should be a little dry.
  3. Divide into eight pieces, and press into the scone pan. Chill in fridge for 20 minutes while the oven is preheated to 400 degrees.
  4. Cook for 25 minutes. Eat warm with jam!
