Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy

Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy is a Texas tradition.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 lb Round steak Tenderize round steak
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups cooking oil

Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • knife
  • Mallet

Method
 

  1. Mix flour, salt and pepper.
  2. Tenderize round steak and. Dip in milk and then flour.
  3. Fry in deep fat at approximately 375 deg F until golden brown.
  4. Make the Gravy.
  5. After steak is done, poor off fat leaving about 4 tbsp in pan. Add 4 tbsp flour. Stir until smooth.
  6. Add the quart of milk.
  7. Stir and cook until thickened for steak gravy.
